Life goes on

Well, this week I finished constructing the set for our local drama group, finished a logo for a fundraising group, did two caricatures, found my name and picture in a local paper for some artwork I sold, and started a oil painting of a lake to demonstrate to my students the techniques that they will be using. (phew www) Art and my life are synonymous. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy every minute of it and if I had more time, I would even do more.

Art in my world

First, I think I have a different idea about what art is than most people. Being both an art teacher and a illustrator, I find that I have developed an appreciation of many types, levels, and approaches to what we call "artwork". I find, at times, that I struggle to decide what "my" area of expertise is in this life of mine. I draw cartoons, caricatures and illustrations for a variety of clients and then I fall into watercolor for another, then oils, only to find myself working yet another week-end making posters. It all seems like art to me but, is it art to others or just a picture that interests them at the moment.
